WAKE UP To Tracking On The Web

WAKE UP - see what tracking is learning about you on the web. It is not only eye opening, but shocking!!! Our lives are very affected by what we do on the internet. How we present ourselves is extremely important. Did you know that because of tracking on the web, what you get with a Google search is often very different than what someone else would get with the same search wording? This is due to tracking. I was beginning to wonder why I was getting such a biased response to my searching Google. I find myself changing search words constantly to bring up what I really want to read. Also I can go to Yahoo, or another search engine and get a more balanced list.

Here is something that everyone should listen to and be aware of, especially if you use social media or google on the web. I don't want to be pushed into a "filter bubble" which is what the site below and video are about. Everyone who wants to be open minded and balanced in their thinking needs to listen to this video. I DON'T want my computer deciding how I think by the likes and other actions I do on the internet. Do you?

This video is part of the donottract-doc.com. This web site is a must for any thinking person to read. Everything we do on the internet, has the internet making decisions for us. Here is the url of a video that explains the filter bubble and how it works.

This program donottract-doc.com allows you to see what is being assessed by loan officers, health care and other insurance providers, recruiting for jobs, and many, many aspects of our lives. Our entire personality is profiled. Can you believe that? I was surprised how close to what I think my personality presents was gathered by the tracking algorithms. Also I was shocked by how that personality construct effects me personally when applying for a loan. What I felt were positives about me, turned out to be negative because I came up as some what of a risk taker.

If I were a young person, I would be greatly concerned about what the internet has determined me to be. I would be concerned about how this determination will and is affecting my life.

I am sure that just like the personality tests of old that were very accurate if you were honest; would become very different if you were dishonest. If you put what you thought the person accessing your profile would want to hear you could make yourself come out looking different. If you were trained in what to say that led to a different assessment of you, you could make yourself appear to be whatever you wanted to be. I took many of these tests, but thanks to a psychology professor, I learned what to avoid saying about myself.

I think we risk becoming the best informed society that has ever died of ignorance.   Ruben Blades

You can either be informed and your own rulers, or you can be ignorant and have someone else, who is not ignorant, rule over you.  Julian Assange

If we want to be more balanced in our web algorithm and have a larger filter bubble, we have to use "like" for things we don't like as often as we use "like" for things we do like. Facebook, and Google filter out those items that we don't put like on. This makes for very unbalanced news reporting. Since most people now get the news from Facebook friends and not balanced reporting, it is polarizing in that you only get fed what you have expressed that you want to hear.

This is extremely important because polarization is the basis for conflicts between families, friends and eventually nations. This causes fights and wars. We need to be willing to listen to and hear both sides of any argument to resolve the issue.
